Voortman Steel Construction is a project-driven organisation that sets up the construction process as efficiently as possible so as to complete the project within the agreed schedule to a high quality standard. All processes from design to completion are seamlessly coordinated with one another. Voortman Steel Construction is ISO 9001 certified for the processes in order to assure quality.

Sales & Sales Engineering
The Sales Manager responsible conducts the entire procurement process and involves the right staff and knowhow in every request. Once we have assessed your request and any points which are not clear have been resolved, our Sales Engineers start the calculation. The Sales Engineering department calculates each project meticulously from start to finish resulting in the optimum value for money for you, the customer. Calculating using BIM will enable the IFC model to be imported, converted and calculated rapidly and proficiently. In addition to this, our own Designers and BIM Engineers will seek out smart alternatives and efficient systems where possible and desirable. We do this of course in consultation with you, as the customer. Efficient coordination and financial transparency, we believe these to be important aspects.

Project Management & Engineering
As soon as the project has been awarded to us, it will be transferred to the Project Manager responsible. The Project Manager together with his/her project team will be conducting the entire process, involving the right staff and knowhow in every project. This enables us to have a high-grade project team ready to attend to you, the customer, a to devote the appropriate attention to your process. We always strive together for the best result. During the engineering phase, all projects are worked through in our BIM Management system in CAD 3D systems such as Tekla and/or Revit. Our BIM Engineers make a complete 3D model of every project, with all the relevant information required for production and assembly. The model comprises geometry, section properties, temporary arrangements to ensure structural safety during the construction phase, joint types and materials for the structure. All departments work in the same model and add to it during development and delivery with the necessary and available data. There is very close collaboration between Sales Engineers, BIM Engineers, Structural Engineers and the Project Manager. Together, we lay the foundations for a project to a high quality standard.

Production
We start manufacturing the steel structure once the project has been worked out in its entirety and the materials are known. We have a production capacity of 30,000 tonnes a year with our sister company Voortman Steel Machinery’s automated machine inventory and our modern production site. The entire production process is set up for lean manufacturing and is controlled by BIM. In short: we are capable of delivering projects to a high quality standard flexibly and within a short timeframe.

In order to demonstrate the quality of products and services delivered, we are certified for: NEN EN 1090-1 (CE marking), Execution class EXC4, NEN EN ISO 9001, NEN EN ISO 3834-2 and NEN EN ISO 14001. In addition, steel structures are manufactured using the latest welding techniques under a certified quality assurance system for welding: NEN EN ISO 3834-2. This enables us to comply with the requirements for welding coordination personnel with extensive knowledge (IWE level) of preparation and inspection before, during and after welding.

Assembly
Several thousand tonnes of steel ship annually from Voortman Steel Construction production sites. These are shipped to all corners of the world in all shapes and sizes. The steel structures are assembled by expert and experienced assembly teams who are SCC Petrochemicals certified. We have our own assembly teams and are therefore independent of any third parties. This enables us to keep a grip on quality and the overall project schedule.

Good collaboration is important at all times but especially during the assembly phase. The Project Manager, work planners and assembly crews work in close collaboration. The schedule is monitored closely and quantitative and qualitative aspects are assessed constantly. In addition to the steel structure, we also look after the roof and façade cladding. And for your complete peace of mind, we are happy to carry out some additional tasks by way of extra service.
